January 8, 2026 WestConn Women's Basketball Knocks Off Rhode Island College DANBURY, Conn. - Senior forward Sara Macary (Naugatuck, Conn.) had 23 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 52-47 win over the visiting Rhode Island College Anchorwomen in Little East Conference (LEC) women's basketball action this evening at Feldman Arena. WestConn improves to 5-8 overall and collects its first league victory in five tries with its first win over the Anchorwomen since 2018. Rhode Island College drops to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the LEC and sees its 14-game winning streak against the Wolves snapped. WestConn will visit the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Corsairs next in an LEC game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

January 15, 2000 Western Connecticut women upset Southern Maine In the battle for first place in Little East Conference women’s basketball, Western Connecticut State (11-2, 5-0) beat Southern Maine (11-2, 3-2) by 56-51 Saturday at the O’Neill Center.
August 31, 1999 Women's Final Four returns to Danbury Due in part to the positive impact visiting student/athletes had on Western's initial venture last March, the school and the city of Danbury will play host to the women's Division III championships for two more years.
