January 16, 2019 MIT Overpowers Wellesley, 68-39 A balanced scoring performance which featured three players in double digits helped the MIT women’s basketball team defeat NEWMAC foe Wellesley College, 68-39, on Wednesday night. Senior Kara Holinski (Livonia, Mich.) powered the Engineers with 12 points, five assists, two blocks, and two steals while Caitlin Aguirre paced the Blue with 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
January 12, 2019 MIT Falls to Springfield, 58-57 A layup with 10 seconds remaining helped Springfield College defeat MIT, 58-57, in a NEWMAC women’s basketball game on Saturday afternoon. Senior Kara Holinski (Livonia, Mich.) led all players with 21 points while grabbing six rebounds for the Engineers.
January 10, 2019 MIT Grinds Out 54-43 Win Over Emerson A strong defensive performance that held Emerson College scoreless during the final five minutes of regulation helped MIT secure a 54-43 victory in a NEWMAC women’s basketball game on Thursday. Senior Kara Holinski (Livonia, Mich.) paced the Engineers with a game-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Ashley Toner led the way for the Lions with 13 points coming off the bench.
January 8, 2019 MIT Breaks Three-Point Record in 79-49 Win Over Wheaton The MIT women’s basketball team knocked down an Institute-record 15 three-pointers in a 79-49 road victory over Wheaton College on Tuesday night. One of four players to reach double digits in scoring, sophomore Jocelyn Luizzi (Colchester, Conn.) paced the Engineers with 16 points in 22 minutes of action coming off the bench.
January 5, 2019 Strong Free-Throw Shooting Propels MIT Past Smith, 67-54 A 24-of-28 performance at the free throw line, including a 12-of-14 showing during the last 2:34 of regulation, helped MIT defeat Smith College, 67-54, in NEWMAC women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon. Senior Dolly Yuan (San Jose, Calif.) led all players with 18 points, including an 8-of-8 outing at the charity stripe, while dishing out two assists for the Engineers.
December 11, 2018 MIT Holds on to Defeat Framingham State, 62-53 Late free throws by seniors Kara Holinski (Livonia, MIch.) and Dolly Yuan (San Jose, Calif.) thwarted a comeback attempt by host Framingham State University, helping the MIT women’s basketball team defeat the Rams, 62-53, on Tuesday night. Sophomore Kylie Gallagher (Upton, Mass.) tallied a game-high 19 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks for the Engineers.
