March 15, 2019 Swat, Titans advance to title game Swarthmore held off Christopher Newport to advance to the national title game for the first time, while UW-Oshkosh put away Wheaton to return to the finals, despite more than 40 points from Aston Francis.
March 12, 2019 A captain's captain Marcus Carter turned down an invitation to the Division III All-Star Game because he was planning on being in Fort Wayne with his team. Turns out, Carter is indeed bringing the entire Christopher Newport team with him to the Final Four. Ryan Scott has more in a Road to Fort Wayne feature.
March 11, 2019 D3hoops.com 2019 men's All-Middle Atlantic Region team With two teams from the smallest region in Division III basketball both playing in the Final Four, you can bet the battle for awards was pretty intense as well.
March 9, 2019 Francis punches Thunder's ticket with 62 Aston Francis scored a Division III NCAA Tournament record 62 points, including a fallaway 3-pointer in the corner with 11.7 seconds left to give Wheaton the lead for the final time. Swarthmore punched its first ticket to the semis as well, while CNU and UW-Oshkosh will make return trips.
March 2, 2019 Ninth-Ranked Christopher Newport Advances to Sweet 16 With 88-53 Victory over Alfred Christopher Newport jumped to an early lead and never looked back Saturday night, beating Alfred University (NY), 88-53, at the Freeman Center in the second round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Captains, now 27-3 and ranked ninth in the nation, have won 11 straight games and are heading to the Sweet 16 of the tournament for the eighth time in program history.
