Sammons has Company as Pipers Outlast Knights, 71-63

Jordan Sammons had 23 points and a career high 17 rebounds as Hamline's women's basketball team grabbed a halftime lead and refused to let go en route to a 71-63 victory Saturday at Hutton Arena.

The soph guard was one of four players who finished in double digit scoring as HU improved to 6-6 in the MIAC, 6-9 overall. 

Cassidy had a season high 16 points, 14 of which came in the first half which saw Hamline take a 37-29 lead. Steph Pilgrim, the league's top scorer and Rachel Usgaard added 10 points apiece. 

Despite the relatively high score, neither team shot well. HU converted on 22 of 62 shots for 35 per cent and the Knight made just 19 of 62 for a 31 per cenrt figure. But the Piper rebounded well, holding a 49-43 advantage. 

Hamline hosts St. Mary's Monday night at Hutton.
