MSOE women's basketball falls to Lakeland in overtime

Junior center Carol Cayo scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and freshman forward Shannon Larson had 19 points but the Raiders lost in overtime to Lakeland 74-66 Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center. Cayo now has 11 double-doubles this season. She also had six steals, five assists and two blocks. 

Larson tied the game at 63 with 55 seconds left in the game. However, the Muskies scored the first six points of the overtime session as they pulled away for the victory. In the second half, MSOE trailed Lakeland 44-28 and went on a 22-1 run to take a five-point lead with 8:23 left in regulation. 

Sophomore forward Heather Miller put in eight points while junior forward Jamie Janczak had seven points off the bench. The Raiders were 13-16 from the free-throw line. 

MSOE (7-12, 4-8 NAC) will head to Lisle, Ill. Wednesday to face Benedictine at 7 p.m.
