Ohio Northern storms back from 20-point deficit in final 3:30 to down Heidelberg 86-82 in overtime behind Miller's first career double-double

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team stormed back from a 67-47 deficit in the final 3:30 of the game to post an 86-82 overtime victory over Heidelberg on Wednesday evening. 
  • Records: Ohio Northern (7-6 Overall, 2-2 OAC), Heidelberg (7-6 Overall, 1-3 OAC).
  • Venue: ONU Sports Center — Ada, Ohio.

The Game

  • Senior Will Miller (Ottoville) led the Polar Bears with his first career double-double, posting a season-high 27 points and a career-high 11 boards. 
  • Sophomore Aiden Harris (Pandora Gilboa) added 15 points and grabbed 8 boards
  • Senior Mason Studer (Colonel Crawford/Gallion) added 10 points and grabbed 7 boards
  • Junior Noah Langford (Perrysburg/Toledo Central Catholic) pitched in 8 points.
  • Trey Killen led the Student Princes with 23 points.
  • Northern trailed 67-47 with 3:38 to go in the game and outscored HU 25-5 in the final 3:38 to tie the game at 72-all and send it into overtime.
  • The deficit was 69-51 when Harris scored an and-1 with 2:36 left to spark a 21-3 run.
  • Miller scored 14 of his points in the final 3:20, including an and-1 with 5.9 seconds left to tie the game at 72.
  • Miller nailed a 3-pointer with 2:15 left in over time to put the Polar Bears on top 82-76.
  • Heidelberg would tie the game at 82-all with 42 seconds left, but Miller would score with 15 seconds to go to make it 84-82.
  • After a pair of Student Princes free throw misses, Studer put the game away with a pair of free throws with five seconds to go.
  • Heidelberg had a chance to win it at the buzzer but Killen's runner was after the buzzer, which sent the game to overtime
  • Heidelberg led 41-24 at the half. 
  • Ohio Northern was 32-of-81 from the floor for 39.5 percent and made 10-of-37 three-pointers for 27.0 percent, while Heidelberg finished 27-of-60 from the field for 45.0 percent and 5-of-16 from three-point range for 31.3 percent. 
  • ONU made 12-of-18 free throws for 66.7 percent and HU was 23-of-27 from the foul line for 85.2 percent.
  • The Polar Bears outrebounded the Student Princes 43-42.

  • Miller now ranks 36th all-time in ONU with 1,077 points in 89 career games. 
  • Miller is now 11th in ONU history with 148 steals.
