#7 UChicago Scores Most Points Since 2019 in 103-64 Victory

CHICAGO -- The 7th-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team rolled past Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon in Hyde Park with a wire-to-wire 103-64 victory that saw the Maroons to lead for over 39 minutes of the game. The 103 points are the most scored in a single game by the Maroons since their 114-107 over Emory in 2019.

Shane Regan started off the game on fire with the first eight points in under two minutes, and the Maroons would not look back. After Kalamazoo cut the lead to four at 12-8, the Maroons would answer with another 8-0 run, capped by a dunk by Daniel Cochran to extend the lead to double figures.

The lead would remain in double figures for the remainder of the game, and after the Hornets cut the lead to 11 with under two minutes to go, the closest it had been since 18-8, UChicago would close the half with a 7-0 run, including a three and layup by Eamonn Kenah to extend the lead to the largest of the half at 18 heading into the locker room.

An opening possession three by Kenah in the second half would cap off the 10-0 run and stretch the advantage over 20 for the first time in the contest. The Maroons would continue to shoot lights out on the offensive end, and a 14-4 run, capped by a pair of triples by Arhan Lapsiwala and Shane Regan would extend the lead past 30 at 82-50.

A Kalamazoo run of their own would cut the lead to 25 at 89-64 with 5:14 remaining by the backups would continue roll on both ends of the floor, holding the Hornets without a point for the last five minutes of the game as a 14-0 run would cap off the 103-64 victory for the Maroons. The 39-point win for UChicago is their largest margin of victory since taking down Caltech 88-48 in 2023.

Shane Regan led the team with 22 points on 7-11 shooting, and Eamonn Kenah added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the first double-double of his collegiate career.

Phillip Lawrence added 14 points, and Arhan Lapsiwala added 11 points to highlight 51 bench points for the Maroons.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 7-1 on the season. The team will break for final exams before returning to action with two games in Puerto Rico. UChicago will take on Susquehanna on Thursday, December 18, before battling #18 Catholic on Friday, December 19.
