Zach Hanson scored 22 points to lead six Johnnies scoring in double figures in Wednesday night's 94-75 St. John's win over No. 6-ranked and visiting St. Thomas in MIAC men's basketball play in Collegeville.

The Tommies (21-3 overall, 17-2 MIAC) saw their conference lead slip to one game over the Johnnies (20-4, 16-3). The teams close out the regular season Saturday.

St. Thomas has secured a tie for the conference title. It will win the solo championship and claim the playoff top seed with a win at St. Mary's, or a SJU home loss to Carleton.

A 36-19 rebounding advantage and 64-percent shooting helped the Johnnies control the game and avenge a January overtime loss at St. Thomas. They led 46-40 at halftime and used a late 17-4 run to pull away to a 90-69 lead.

Connor Bair scored 15 points, and Anders Nelson added 14 for the Tommies. The Purple had only seven turnovers and shot 51 percent from the floor, but they sank just 7-of-23 from behind the arc.
