The Millikin men's basketball team defeated Finlandia University 78-63 on December 28 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
The Big Blue returned to action for the first time since December 19 and had to fight off the after effects of those extra Christmas cookies. Millikin shot 48 percent from the field, but struggled from three-point range going 2-13 (15 percent). The Lions shot 39.6 percent from the field while making 8-24 from three-point range. Millikin forced Finlandia into 18 turnovers while committing only five. The Lions won the rebounding battle 38-30.
Millikin lead 37-31 at halftime and lead the entire second half. The Big Blue's biggest lead of the game was the final margin of 15 points.
Millikin had a balanced attack with Zach Fisher, Elijah Henry and DeVante Harrell each scoring 18 points. Henry added a team high eight rebounds along with three steals and two assists. Harrell had six rebounds and three assists.
Austin Carlson led the Loins with 10 points.
Millikin improves to 7-4 while Finlandia falls to 2-7.
The Big Blue host Principia College on Saturday, December 30 at 3 p.m.
