The Millikin men's basketball team lost at Trine University 51-45 at the St. Andrews Products Classic in Angola, Indiana on December 19.
The Thunder entered the game ranked sixth in the nation in scoring defense holding teams to under 58 points per game. As expected, the game with the Big Blue was a defensive battle with Millikin hitting only 31.5 from the field while Trine connected on 37 percent. The Thunder was 13-15 from the free throw line all coming in the second half. Millikin was 4-10 from the line. Trine won the rebounding battle 38-35.
The game was tied at 39-39 with 5:18 left before Trine went on a 12-6 run to close out the game. All 12 of Trine's points during the run came from the free throw line.
Tommy Pilackas led the Big Blue with a double double scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Freshman Nathan Lovekamp added 12 for Millikin.
Will Dixon led Trine in scoring with a game high 30 points.
Millikin goes to 5-5 on the season while Trine improves to 7-1.
Millikin is back in action on Sunday playing Adrian College in the St. Andrews Products Classic at 1 p.m. ET.
