ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Lakeland College men's basketball team shrugged off a sluggish first half here Sunday, turning up the energy in a 74-61 non-conference win at Macalester College.
The host Scots (3-5) led at the halftime break 39-34, but the Muskies (9-2) pushed the tempo and outscored the hosts 27-10 over the first 12 minutes of the second half to take command. Lakeland pushed the lead to 20 at 74-54 when the reserves took the court for both teams.
Senior Jake Schwarz matched a season high with 30 points on 12-for-19 shooting and nine rebounds. Junior Justin Ward added 17 points and nine boards, while senior Germell Heard scored nine.
The Muskies return to action on Wednesday when they host Finlandia at the Woltzen Gym at 7:15 p.m.
