MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- Junior Cameron Bounds tallied 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Mississippi College to an 82-67 road victory over Huntingdon on Tuesday night.
The Choctaws (2-0) came out quickly in the first half and took a 38-21 lead with 2:03 remaining. The Hawks (0-3) would score the next 12 points over the end of the first half and beginning of the second half to cut the lead to just five.
Huntingdon kept the game tight, but never got any closer than four points and junior Brandon Blake scored 14 second half points to put the game away for MC. Blake scored 18 points in the game.
Bounds went 4-5 from the floor and 9-13 from the free throw line, including making all four of his attempts in the second half. The Clinton native also pulled down seven offensive rebounds in the game.
The MC defense also stepped up, holding Huntingdon to just 35% shooting from the floor and just 4-20 from the three-point line.
Junior Turmonte Ragland was also in double-figures for MC with 11 points, while junior Lakin Ford made his first appearance of the year with nine points and four rebounds.
Senior Jarvis Moore had a team-high five assists. As a team, MC had 18 assists to just 17 turnovers. The Choctaws forced 21 turnovers and came away with 14 steals.
MC will be back in action on Thursday, November 29th, when they get into conference play at Howard Payne.
