Charles hit the milestone with a jumper early in the second quarter that pulled Hunter within four of home-standing Wesleyan, 19-14. The Cardinals maintained their lead into the fourth quarter when Charles hit a three that trimmed Wesleyan’s lead to four points. The Hawks pulled within two points in the final period, but Olivia Quinn sealed Wesleyan's win with four free throws in the final minute.
Charles started the season as Hunter’s all-time leader in points, field goals, and steals. The Tarrytown, N.Y. native was also Division III’s active career leader for scoring and points per game with 23.7 entering this weekend.
Last season, Charles was the CUNYAC’s co-Player of the Year, a second-team All-Region selection, and the nation’s leading scorer with 745 points. She was the Conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2022-2023.
Hunter rebounded on Sunday with a 79-52 win over Albertus Magnus, and Charles was even better than in Saturday’s game. She scored a career-high 40 points and tallied seven steals, five rebounds and two blocks for the Hawks (3-1) and was named to the All-Tournament team.
