March 2, 2019 Captains Make Sectional Round for 4th Straight Season; CNU Runs Away With 2nd Round Win Over Mount Saint Mary, 79-52 GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- As they have time and time again this season, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team paired a suffocating defensive performance with a high-paced, balanced attack as they downed Mount Saint Mary College (23-6) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship, 79-52. The Captains improved to 25-5 after pulling away from the Knights to earn the program's fourth straight trip to the NCAA Sectional Semifinals. 
March 1, 2019 CNU advances to second round after hard-fought win at Gettysburg GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Kiana Kirkland scored a career-high 26 points to lead a group of four double-figure scorers for the Captains as CNU advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament Second Round after an 82-78 win at Gettysburg College (22-6). The Captains trailed by as many as 14 in the first-half before clawing back in front of a raucous home crowd to win the back-and-forth tussle.
February 23, 2019 CHAMPIONS! CNU Women's Basketball Wins 2019 CAC Title With 83-67 Victory Over #2 Southern Virginia NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the first time in the 47-year history of Christopher Newport women's basketball, the Captains are returning to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season. With an 83-67 win at home over second-seeded Southern Virginia University, the Captains (23-5) won the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Championship and earned the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The senior class of Jessica Daguilh, Madison Howdyshell, and Zhara Tannor represent the first group to reach the postseason tournament in each of their four playing seasons after improving to 101-18 for a winning percentage of nearly 85%. It's the most wins for a class since the senior class of 2014 hauled in 105 career victories. 
February 9, 2019 Captains Win Fourth Straight as Daguilh Double-Double Leads CNU to 70-59 Win Over Frostburg State NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Playing in the final home regular season game of their careers, Christopher Newport seniors Jessica Daguilh, Madison Howdyshell, and Zhara Tannor combined for 40 of the Captains' 70 points in a 70-59 win at home on Saturday afternoon. CNU (18-5, 9-3) edged out Frostburg State (14-8, 6-6) behind a double-double from Daguilh with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
