SHERMAN, Texas – Bryce Frank poured in 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Austin College women's basketball team rolled past Colorado College 81-52 as the 'Roos celebrated Senior Night in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 19-4 overall and 12-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Frank asserted control early in the game for the 'Roos, scoring 10 points in the first five and a half minutes while fellow senior Ann Savage put seven points of her own on the board in the first quarter. Austin College raced out to a 26-14 first quarter lead, and the momentum carried into the second. After Colorado College scored to make it 33-21 with 5:53 left, the 'Roos would close the half on a 10-2 run capped off by a bucket from senior guard Caitlyn Collins to make it 43-23 at the break.
Frank scored six of Austin College's first eight points after halftime, and a Reagan Chiaverini three pushed the margin to 62-33 with 2:23 left in the third quarter. Natalie McCoy's layup with seven seconds left gave Austin College a 69-37 advantage going into the fourth, and the 'Roos would coast from there.
Austin College was dominant in the paint, scoring 58 points compared to just 14 for Colorado College. Overall, the 'Roos shot 54% from the field and held a 40-33 edge on the glass, while holding Colorado College to just 31% shooting and a 1-of-17 performance from beyond the arc.
Frank made 12-of-18 shots to get her 27 points, and with her 12 rebounds notched the 52nddouble-double of her career. That ties former 'Roo Katy Williams for the most in SCAC history. Chiaverini came off the bench to score 13 points, and McCoy, Addison Walling, and Ally Longaker each scored eight. Savage had seven points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
McKenzie Gertz and Katie Beth Jones each scored 10 for the Tigers, and Jade Odom chipped in eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Austin College heads out on the road for its final two regular season matchups, heading first to Texas Lutheran on Friday before taking on Southwestern on Saturday as they vie for the SCAC regular season title.
