SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's basketball team suffered a 64-57 defeat to the hands of Rhodes College Sunday afternoon inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Despite a 7-0 setback in the first 1:13 of the contest, the Tigers responded with a 10-4 run to cut the deficit to a one-point affair, 11-10, with six minutes left in the opening quarter.
-Trailing 16-15 with less than two minutes to go, Sewanee's Emily Carletello and Sue Kim hit back-to-back 3-pointers to go up 21-16 after 10 minutes of play.
-The second quarter was a different story. The Lynx held the Tigers to six points and a 2-of-14 mark from the field. Rhodes took a 31-27 lead into the locker room.
-The Tigers retook the lead with 4:37 left in the third with back-to-back triples from Katie Roth. Near the end of the quarter, Abby Young drained a shot from beyond the arc to even the score at 40 points apiece as the teams went to the fourth quarter.
-The fourth quarter saw the Lynx drained 7-of-12 field goals and 9-of-13 free throws. On defense, the team swatted away five shots, despite the Tigers out-rebounding the Lynx, 12-7.
-Knotted up at 44 with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation, the visitors went on a 6-2 run to seal the contest.
-Sewanee would make it a one-point game again, 50-49, with a Bella Taylor triple, but that would be as close as the Tigers would get to retaking the lead.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Lakeisha Phillips led Sewanee with 12 points, while Katie Roth contributed 11 and four boards.
-Abby Young posted nine points and eight rebounds off the bench.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Four Lynx players were in double figures. Allie Young led them all with 18 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks and four dimes.
-Kiera Downey and Lindsey Whiteside added 12 points each, while Alyssa Owens scored 11.
The Tigers will conclude the three-game home swing Wednesday afternoon with a matinee contest against LaGrange. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Juhan Gymnasium.
