Spaulding sharp, St. Thomas stays unbeaten

Senior All-America Hannah Spaulding finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds in 29 minutes to lead No. 3-ranked St. Thomas to an 82-66 win over St. Catherine in MIAC women's basketball play Saturday at Schoenecker Arena. It was the conference opener for both teams.

The Tommies (5-0 overall, 1-0 MIAC) made it 55 connsecutive victories against conference opponents, and 22 consecutive regular-season wins.

St. Thomas sank 10 3-pointers, had only eight turnovers and shot 48 percent from the floor. The host team led 50-29 at halftime and 60-49 after three quarters.

Senior guard Lucia Renikoff made four treys and finished with 18 points. Kaia Porter added 15 points and nine rebounds.

The Toms play Wednesday night at Bethel.
