TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The 2018-19 Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball schedule is highlighted by one of the nation's top small college tournaments coming to Hulbert Arena on Thanksgiving weekend.

Rose-Hulman will host the Midwest Challenge for the first time on Nov. 24-25.  The event features four nationally elite women's basketball programs that have each qualified for at least two straight NCAA Division III Tournaments.  The field features Rose-Hulman, DePauw, Illinois Wesleyan and Washington University in St. Louis.  All four teams are expected to receive a preseason top 25 national ranking from later this fall.

Rose-Hulman opens the Midwest Challenge on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m., facing a Washington University squad that has won five NCAA Division III national championships.  Two-time national champion DePauw will face 2012 national champion Illinois Wesleyan in the 4 p.m. game, with third-place and championship games set for Sunday Nov. 25.  This marks the first time that four NCAA Division III Tournament teams from the prior year will play in a basketball tournament at Rose-Hulman.

The Fightin' Engineer home schedule also features a non-conference game against 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament qualifier Chicago on Tuesday Dec. 18.  The rigorous early season home schedule includes a showdown against 2018 HCAC runner-up Transylvania University on Saturday Dec. 8.

The 2019 calendar year includes eight HCAC home games, highlighted by four Saturday doubleheaders with the men.  Twinbills taking place in Saturday in January and February include Earlham (Jan. 5), Defiance (Jan. 19), Bluffton (Feb. 2) and Manchester (Feb. 16).  The team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game for the Wabash Valley Cancer Survivors Organization will take place Jan. 19 against Defiance.

The non-conference schedule opens with a trip to the Birmingham Southern Tip-off Tournament on Nov. 17-18.  A three-game road trip concludes at Rhodes on Nov. 20.  The Fightin' Engineers cap their non-conference away schedule with the Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic at St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Wed. Nov. 28.

Rose-Hulman finished 24-4 last season and won 22 consecutive games before falling in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament 60-52 to Gustavus Adolphus.  The team returns three starters and nine letterwinners from last season, and also features five talented newcomers from four states.
