Lady Royals Stifle Cabrini In 57-41 On Wednesday Night

RADNOR, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's basketball team put the clamps on Cabrini on Wednesday night en route to a 57-41 victory in Nerney Field House.

The Lady Royals (5-0) held Cabrini (2-2) to just 10 points combined in the second and third quarter, which turned a 15-12 deficit after one quarter into a 43-25 lead going into the fourth quarter. Scranton held the Cavaliers to just 25.5 percent (13-for-51) from the field, including just 1-for-14 (7.1 percent) from 3-point range.

The victory extends Scranton's winning streak in road games to 27 straight. Head coach Trevor Woodruff has not lost a true road game since taking the helm at the start of the 2015-16 season.

Sophomore forward Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) led Scranton with 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Senior center Katie Feehery (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) had her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, and junior guard Bridgette Mann (Canadensis, Pa./Wallenpaupack) added 10 points, five assists and three rebounds.

Scranton shot 42.2 percent (19-for-45) from the field, including 3-for-11 from 3-point range. The Lady Royals made 16 of 21 free throws (76.2 percent), including a 7-for-8 performance by Mason. Scranton won the battle on the boards, 37-29, and held a 20-16 edge in points in the paint.

Cabrini finished 14-for-15 (93.3 percent) from the free throw line and committed just 10 turnovers while forcing Scranton to commit 13.

The Lady Royals return to action on Saturday, Dec. 2, when they travel to Huntingdon, Pa. to open Landmark Conference play against Juniata at 4 p.m.
