1998 Men's Team of the Year

First Team

Hope's Joel HolstegeJoel Holstege, Guard, Hope
Holstege helped Hope reach the title game for the second time in three seasons, averaging 15.9 points and 5.8 assists per game for the 26-5 Flying Dutchmen. The senior went into the Hope record book as the career leader for games played (118), three-point baskets (181) and assists (567). He averaged 13.1 points per game over his career while finishing with 429 rebounds, 301 steals and 119 blocked shots.

Henry Shannon, Guard,
Maryville (Mo.)

Shannon averaged 26.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, leading the SLIAC in scoring for the third time. The junior also led the conference in steals and has 1,775 career points. He appears a cinch to reach the 2,000-point mark next year as a senior.

Lebanon Valley's Andy PankoAndy Panko, 
Forward, Lebanon Valley

Panko terrorized the Middle Atlantic Region, scoring 25.5 points a game while shooting 64% from the floor and 8.7 rebounds. The 6-8 junior has reached double figures in scoring in 40 consecutive games, leading the Flying Dutchmen to the ECAC Southern Regional title.

Michael Nogelo, 
Forward, Williams

Nogelo helped lead Williams to the Final Four for the second consecutive year and poured in 38 points in the third-place game to reach 2,000 for his career. Nogelo, who averaged 23.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game over his 28 games, shot 55% from the field.

Adam Doll, 
Center, Simpson

The IIAC player of the year, Simpson led Division III in rebounding with 14.6 per game. The 6-6 junior shot 59.8% from the floor in averaging 19 points per game, while shooting 72% from the line and blocking 1.2 shots per contest. Doll was the only player to twice pull down more than 21 rebounds in a game this season.

Second Team

Verdel Baskin, Guard, Colorado College
Baskin scored 26 points per game, while capping an all-around effort with 7.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals.

Josh Estelle, Guard, Wabash
Estelle shot 90.6% from the free-throw line, averaging 18.5 points and 3.6 assists per game in leading the Little Giants to the NCAA Tournament.

Devean George, Forward, Augsburg
George averaged 25.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, helping lead the Auggies to the NCAA Tournament. The 6-5 junior shot 50.3% from the field while blocking 1.5 shots per game.

DeMarcus Morrison, Forward, Averett
Morrison led Averett with 17.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. The sophomore shot 50.3% from the floor.

Ryan Harrigan, Center, Sewanee
Harrigan scored 21.5 points per game with 8.7 rebounds, including 33 points against Division I Belmont. The senior center shot 56% from the floor in leading the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament.
