The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers received 19 of 25 first-place votes to claim the top spot in the inaugural D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll. The voting panel, consisting of coaches, sports information directors and writers hand-picked from the eight regions in Division III, chose the two-time defending national champions in overwhelming fashion. UW-Platteville was followed by national runner-up Hampden-Sydney, which received three first-place votes, and Final Four participant William Paterson, which received two votes at the top spot. Perennial power Rowan received the final first-place vote, finishing sixth overall. The Top 25 will be the only poll voted on weekly throughout the Division III season, which tips off Nov. 19. The women's preseason poll will be released next week.
