DePauw
65, Marymount 58 TERRE HAUTE DePauws outstanding guard play offset Marymounts balanced scoring attack to win the third place game of the NCAA Division III Womens Basketball Championship 65-58 on Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technologys Hulbert Arena. Seniors Sarah MacKay, Katie Imborek and Lindsey Rush combined to score 32 points to lead DePauw to the victory. Rush had a team-high 12 points while MacKay and Imborek each had 10 points for the Tigers, which ended the season with a 26-4 record. Meanwhile, Marymount had four players score in double figures, led by 12 points from Katie Jarvis and All-American Candice Brown. Jodie Knotts and Gen Schmitt added 11 points for the Saints, which ended the season with a 24-8 record. Forward Amy Argetsingers contributions were also significant to DePauws cause. The 6-foot freshman made an inside jump shot that stopped a six-point Marymount run at the start of the second half that had cut the Tigers 39-31 halftime edge to 39-37 in the opening three minutes of the period. Four minutes later, a pair of free throws by Argetsinger moved DePauw back on top by seven, 45-38. Marymount, which ended the season 24-8, could get no closer that four points the rest of the way. Each time, the Tigers seemed to have an answer. And, it was either one of the senior guards or Argetsinger. McKay scored all 10 of her points in the first half as the Tigers took a 39-31 halftime edge even though Marymount had scored the first six points of the game.
