DePauw 84, Hardin-Simmons 60

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Tigers moved one step closer to reaching the Final Four as they won easily over Hardin-Simmons 84-60 in a sectional semifinal game.

The 24-3 Tigers set a school record for victories in a season with the win and now face host Wilmington (28-1) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for the right to travel to Terre Haute for the national semifinals. Wilmington held on for an 89-81 win against Hope in the other semifinal contest. The two teams met on November 24 at Maryville (Tenn.) with Wilmington winning 62-61.

DePauw, ranked 13th by D3hoops.com, shot nearly 70% in the first half and 64% for the game on the way to a 49-28 halftime advantage over the No. 5 Cowgirls.

The Tigers jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the opening four minutes of the contest as Amy Argetsinger scored seven and Jill Schneider four. Hardin-Simmons closed the gap to 16-10, but DePauw went on a 17-2 run to push the lead to 33-12 with 6:37 left in the half. That margin reached as many as 26 late in the half and the Cowgirls never got closer than 19 the rest of the way. DePauw led by as many as 33 in the second half.

"We weren't aggressive enough on defense, but credit DePauw and their ball movement," Cowgirls coach Julie Goodenough.

"Against the caliber of team we faced tonight, this was one of the best performances we've had all year," DePauw coach Kris Huffman said. "This was one of those nights where we didn't do a lot wrong."

Lindsey Rush scored a season-high 22 points in 21 minutes to lead the Tigers while Sarah MacKay added 13 and Colleen Powers posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Argetsinger finished with 11.

Kendra Anderson paced the Cowgirls with 19 points and seven rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded Hardin-Simmons 38-23 in the contest. The Cowgirls finished the season at 26-2.
