(NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The New Jersey City University men's basketball team is 8-0 to start a season for only the second time in its illustrious history and has climbed to new heights in the national poll. NJCU climbed four spots in the NCAA Division III Top 25 poll, from No. 23 to No. 19, in the Week 3 D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released on Monday night. The Gothic Knights are one of just 15 unbeaten teams remaining in Division III.

December 6, 2017 No. 23 #NJCUMBB Moves to 8-0 for First Time Since 1988-89 as Sam Toney Scores 30+ for Third Straight Game JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The last time New Jersey City University was 8-0 to start a men's basketball season, 11th year head coach Marc Brown was the sophomore star of the Siena College men's basketball team. Years later, it's another sophomore that's lifting the Gothic Knights to new heights. Sophomore power forward Sam Toney (Plainfield, NJ/Williamstown) scored 30+ points for the third consecutive game, including a pair of back-to-back threes in the final five minutes and nationally No. 23 ranked NJCU moved to 8-0 to start a season for the first time since the 1988-89 season, rallying past upstart Kean University, 87-76, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on December 6 at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center ('Coach Charlie Brown Court').

(NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University sophomore power forward Sam Toney (Plainfield, NJ/Williamstown)produced one of the greatest weeks by any player in the 85-year history of Gothic Knight men's basketball and was an obvious choice for New Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Week accolades, the league office announced on December 4.

Freshman center Chika Wosu (Jersey City, NJ/University Academy Charter)), the younger brother of two-time New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year Chinwe Wosu (Jersey City, NJ/University Academy Charter), has been named the NJAC Rookie of the Week for the first time, the league office announced on December 4.
