January 20, 2017 Hawks’ Late Comeback Falls Short to First-Place St. John Fisher, 71-65 ROCHESTER, NY – After falling victim to a 24-point deficit by host St. John Fisher, the Hartwick men’s basketball team nearly completed a gutsy comeback, bringing the contest to just a two-possession game late. With the shot clock turned off, two missed three-point opportunities by the Hawks exhausted the remaining time and saw the Cardinals come away with the 71-65 win at Bobby Wanzer Court on Friday night.
January 18, 2017 Young and hungry coach has Hawks soaring Eight years ago, Waleed Farid was starring as a player at Stevens Institute of Technology. He then caught the coaching bug overseas. Now, he's leading his former Empire 8 rival Hartwick up the conference standings.
January 14, 2017 ’Wick Caps 3-0 Week with a 94-83 Victory over Houghton ONEONTA, NY – Since becoming league opponents beginning in the 2012-13 season, the Hartwick men’s basketball team had yet to drop a game against the visiting Houghton Highlanders. On Saturday evening at Lambros Arena, that untarnished streak was further enforced as four Hawks reached double-figure scoring to come away with a 94-83 victory.
January 13, 2017 Hawks Take Down Alfred at Home, 105-92 ONEONTA, NY – In a matchup featuring the Hartwick men’s basketball team and the visiting Alfred Saxons, the Hawks benefitted from its backcourt efficiency provided by the two-man tandem of Joey Lufkin (Argyle, NY/Argyle Central) and Brandon LaForest (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes HS) in a 105-92 victory Friday night at Lambros Arena. Such guard play allowed Hartwick to a 3-2 clip inside the Empire 8 supporting a 10-4 overall record. The Saxons drop to 5-10 and 2-3 in league play.
January 10, 2017 ’Wick Controls Second Half to Hand Stevens Its First E8 Loss, 88-79 ONEONTA, NY – After going 1-2 in the opening week of league action, the Hartwick men’s basketball team not only snapped a two-game skid of its own but handed Stevens its first Empire 8 loss with an 88-79 win at Lambros Arena Tuesday night. After trailing by four at the break, it took the Hawks under three minutes following the intermission to pin the deficit back on the Ducks and they led the rest of the way. The Hawks are now 8-4 overall and an even 2-2 in E8 action while the Ducks stumble to 8-3 on the year and 2-1 in the league.
