February 17, 2018 Dufrene Double-Double Highlights Senior Night Performance But Captains Fall to York (Pa.), 87-85 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Playing in her final regular season home game, senior guard Bailey Dufrene registered her first career double-double, including a 20-point effort, but the nationally-ranked Captains were stunned at home by York College of Pennsylvania, 87-85, on Saturday night. CNU secured the No. 2 seed in next week's Capital Athletic Conference Tournament with the setback, falling to 22-3 overall and 16-2 in league play. 
February 10, 2018 Porter, Fancher Lead the Way for CNU Women's Hoops in Comeback Win at Penn State Harrisburg, 78-75 MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- After a 16-0 run in the third quarter lifted Penn State Harrisburg to a double-digit lead, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team mounted a thrilling come-from-behind finish in the fourth quarter en route to their tenth straight victory, 78-75. The Captains (21-2, 15-1) leaned on a career-high 22 points from senior Makenzie Fancher and a stellar fourth quarter from senior Sam Porter, who finished with 21 points, in the win.
February 7, 2018 Kirkland's Career-High Leads CNU in 93-57 Rout of Southern Virginia Wednesday Night NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Sophomore Kiana Kirkland shot 8-of-14 from the floor and hit three triples to notch her first career 20-point performance on Wednesday night, leading the 9th-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team to a 93-57 victory over Southern Virginia University (12-10, 5-10). The Captains won their ninth straight game and 14th straight at home while also reaching the 20-win plateau for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons.

February 3, 2018 Captains Down No. 21 Marymount in Battle of Nationally-Ranked CAC Teams, 70-52 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The 10th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains (19-2, 13-1) moved into a tie for first in the Capital Athletic Conference standings on Saturday afternoon, after avenging an early January loss to 21st-ranked Marymount University with a 70-52 victory at home. Playing in front of a season-high home crowd of nearly 600 at the Freeman Center, the Captains put together a strong offensive performance against one of the nation's top defensive units to win their eighth straight game.
