November 29, 2017 Wednesday: Holding on at home No. 7 Hanover held off a late rally by No. 16 Ohio Wesleyan to win its home opener and No. 17 Christopher Newport did the same to beat Salisbury in the CAC opener. Elsewhere Lycoming and Nichols started conference play with more convincing wins.
March 3, 2017 2nd-Ranked Captains Advance in NCAA Tournament with 81-45 Victory over Morrisville State SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Christopher Newport surged past Morrisville State Friday night thanks to a 20-0 run in the first half, cruising to an 81-45 victory in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship. The Captains, now 26-2, advance to play Swarthmore College Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Tarble Pavilion on the Swarthmore campus outside of Philadelphia. Swarthmore advanced by beating the College of Staten Island, 86-61.
February 25, 2017 Daly's Dramatic Shot Caps Captains Comeback as CNU beats Salisbury, 63-62, in CAC Championship Christopher Newport ended the game with an 11-1 run, and senior Tim Daly pulled it out for the Captains, sinking a 19-footer with less than two seconds remaining to give the Captains the 63-62 triumph and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The remarkable comeback marked the 26th straight victory at home for the Captains, who captured their second-straight CAC crown.
February 23, 2017 3rd-Ranked CNU Advances to Title Game with 78-53 Semi-Final Win over Marymount Christopher Newport has been a member of the Capital Athletic Conference for the past four seasons, and Saturday at the Freeman Center, the CNU men's basketball squad will play in its fourth-straight CAC title game. The Captains, ranked third in the country and riding an 18-game winning streak, will host Salisbury for the conference championship game with tipoff time set for 4:30 p.m.
