EWING, N.J. — Junior center Adrienne Warner led New Jersey to an exciting 56-50 victory over the New Jersey Athletic Conference leader Kean with her first career double-double in Packer Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Warner, who hit a jumper with 22.4 ticks remaining for a 54-50 lead, tallied 12 points and pulled down a career-best 11 caroms with 10 of those being defensive boards. Junior forward Laura Mala contributed 10 points and four assists, while senior co-captains Jen Munday and Kristen McCandless each notched nine. McCandless is also had five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. TCNJ is now tied for the first spot in the NJAC with Kean with a 19-4 overall record and a 14-2 league mark. The Lions also improve their win streak to nine straight games.

The Cougars had three players in double digits as junior guard Kellie Rice paced the team with 12 and four steals, while senior center Jaquana Abdullah collected 11 and seven boards. With her 11 points today, Abdullah became Kean's all-time leading scorer with 1,377, surpassing Merry Beth Ryans (1987-89) mark of 1,376. Junior forward Shervon James grabbed 10 rebounds, while sophomore forward Jacelyn Stanton had 10 points and eight boards.

TCNJ junior Liz Martin led all players with six points in the first half, while Munday and McCandless each added five. The Lions used a 13-5 run to regain control of the game and post a 25-14 lead at halftime. Defensively, Kean was held to no 3-pointers on eight attempts as the Cougars were led by Rice and Stanton as each tallied five points and Stanton grabbed five boards as well.

Abdullah knotted the game at 46-46 with two made free throws at 3:23, giving her the all-time scoring mark as well. TCNJ closed out the game with eight straight points for the win. McCandless had a steal and layup with 58 seconds on the clock, followed by Warners steal and jumper for a 54-50 margin. Mala iced the win with two made free throws with 1.7 seconds left.
