The Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team will conclude the fall semester portion of its schedule with games against Kenyon College and Baldwin Wallace University. The Spartans will play host to Kenyon on Friday, December 8th at 7:00 p.m., before making the trip across town to Baldwin Wallace for a 7:00 p.m. game on Monday, December 11th.

Case Western Reserve will enter Friday night's game with an overall record of 3-3, including a 1-1 home record and a 2-2 mark in road contests. The Spartans will be aiming for back-to-back victories for the first time this season, following their 86-54 win over Wooster last Saturday. The team has scored 68.3 points per game this season on 38.9% shooting from the floor and 32.8% shooting from behind the three-point arc, while allowing 70.7 points per contest. Junior guard/ forward Hillary Hellmann leads the team with 18.2 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per contest, while sophomore guard Kendall McConico has added 13.5 points and 4.8 rebounds, and freshman guard Emily Todd has scored 12.3 points per game.
The Spartans are under the leadership of Head Coach Jennifer Reimer, who became the program's all-time leader with her 121st career victory with CWRU earlier in the season. She has a career record of 279-233 during her 21-year career as a collegiate head coach, including a 123-133 mark during her 11 seasons with the Spartans. Reimer is assisted by CWRU alumnae Brooke Orcutt and Erin Gdaniec.
Kenyon College Ladies
Kenyon stands at 7-1 during the 2017-18 campaign, including a 3-1 record in games away from home. The Ladies defeated Allegheny College 65-42 on the road on Wednesday to extend their winning streak to six-straight games. The team has scored 60.0 points per game this season on 39.0% shooting from the floor and 29.3% shooting from long range, while allowing 51.0 points per contest. Junior guard Jessica Gerber leads the squad with 12.9 points per game, sophomore guard Paige Matijasich has scored 12.8 points per contest and a team-high 6.3 rebounds, and junior guard Sharon Hull has notched 10.0 points per contest.
Kenyon is led by Suzanne Helfant, who has a 362-226 record during her 23 seasons with Kenyon, and a 396-269 mark overall during her 26 year career, which includes a three-year stint at Marietta. She is assisted by Morgan Korinek.
Friday's game will be the 51st meeting all-time between Case Western Reserve and Kenyon, with the Ladies holding a 27-23 edge in the series, which dates back to the 1978-79 campaign. Last year, the Spartans started hot, outscoring Kenyon 32-15 in the first quarter, en route to a 76-70 win over Kenyon in Gambier, Ohio. CWRU led wire-to-wire, shooting a blistering 47.9% from the floor and 47.6% from three-point range, with Kara Hageman leading all scorers with 24 points.
Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets
Baldwin Wallace stands at 3-3 on the season, including a 1-2 record at home, and will travel to Muskingum on Saturday before hosting the Spartans on Monday. After opening the season with three-straight victories, the Yellow Jackets have lost their last three games to fall back to .500 on the campaign. Baldwin Wallace has scored 66.8 points per game, shooting 40.6% from the floor and 35.2% from long range, while allowing 58.8 points per game. Junior forward Rachel Womeldorf leads the squad with 11.7 points per game, and junior guard/ forward Hannah Fecht has scored 10.7 points per game with a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per game.
The Yellow Jackets are coached by Cheri Harrer, who has spent her entire 28-year career as a head coach with Baldwin Wallace, going 551-205. She is assisted by Cody Hartzler and Erin Eaton.
This year's matchup between the Spartans and the Yellow Jackets will be the 34th meeting all-time between the two teams, with Baldwin Wallace leading the series 20-13. Last season, the Spartans suffered a 91-86 setback at home against the Yellow Jackets, despite 25 points from Hageman and 21 points from Hellmann.
Case Western Reserve is second in the University Athletic Association in fewest fouls (109) and fewest turnovers (107), and is third in the conference with 68.3 points per game and 7.2 made three pointers per game… The Spartans have used the same starting lineup for all six games this season – Alicia Marie Gonzales, Emily Todd, Kendall McConico, Hillary Hellmann and Emma Cain… McConico registered a career-high eight rebounds during the team's game at 15th-ranked Ohio Northern last week… McConico's 41 free throw attempts this season leads all UAA players… Todd leads all CWRU players with a 41.0% mark on three-point shots this season, and has made a three-point shot in each of the team's last five games, including a season-high five three pointers in the Spartans' win over Wooster last Saturday… Hellmann is 61st in Division III and third in the UAA in points per game… She is 122 points away from becoming the 15th player in program history with 1,000 career points, and her 133 career made three pointers are ninth in school history and 46 away from the program record of 179, currently held by Jasmine Rowan (2000-04) and Evy Iacono (2009-13)… Hellmann is also third among all UAA players with a 79.4% mark from the free throw line… She has scored in double-figures in each of the team's six games this season.
