Senior All-America center Kaitlin Langer recorded 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 5-ranked St. Thomas (9-0) to a 78-67 victory over No. 7-ranked Hope (11-1) in a battle of Division III women's basketball unbeatens Thursday at the Bluffton (Ohio) tournament.
UST coach Ruth Sinn won her 250th game in 12 seasons with the Tommies (250-75), including a 65-5 record the last three seasons. The Toms have won 21 consecutive regular-season games and 15 games in a row away from Schoenecker Arena.
Langer posted her 19th career doube double in points and rebounds.
Hope built a 29-17 lead early in the second quarter. But a 37-13 mid-game run by UST in the second and third quarters swung momentum. Hope never got closer than six in the final quarter.
The Dutch came in averaging 84 points a game but were limited to 67 by the Toms. UST outrebounded Hope 41-35 and that led to its 17-8 edge in second-chance points.
The Toms play host Bluffton (8-1) in Friday's championship game. Bluffton scored a 53-35 win over Centre.
