More news about: Drew

The Drew women's basketball team is ready to see if the tireless efforts in the weight room and the gym will pay off as they prepare for their season opener on November 15th against Hartwick College. The Rangers return a plethora of talent that will hopefully translate into another exciting season in Baldwin Gym.

The Rangers return four starters from a year ago including team leading scorer and Second Team All-Conference selection Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.). The senior point guard was third in the Landmark Conference with 14.3 points per game and led the league in minutes played with just over 34 a game.

Barber will return with three other starters from a year ago. Senior forward Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei), guard Jennifer Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) and Britta Olsen (Hallowell, Maine/Hall-Dale) all come back for second-year Head Coach Brittany Gaetano. Forwards Ault and Olsen combined to for over nine rebounds per game last season. Mateo was the Rangers leading distributor from the backcourt a year ago, dishing out a total of 113 assists and averaging 7.5 points per game.

The Rangers have been notorious for their hot starts in seasons of late, including last year where they won seven of their first nine games. On the Rangers schedule this season are two D3hoops.com Top 25 teams, #4 William Paterson and #13 Mount Union. Drew will travel to Wheaton College in Massachusetts on November 19 & 20th, and head south to Florida for the Daytona Beach Shootout where they take a shot at #13 Mount Union.
