Bulldog Women’s Basketball Players Carroll and Barbetti-Cort Collect All-SCIAC Awards for the Fourth Time

It was announced on Tuesday that senior forward Courtney Carroll(Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) and senior guard/forward Mariah Barbetti-Cort(Ventura, CA) represented the University of Redlands women's basketball team on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team.

With this year's selections, these Bulldogs both receive the third First-Team awards and fourth overall All-Conference nods of their respective tenures.

While competing in all 14 SCIAC contests, Carroll provided an incredibly well-rounded effort during the Bulldogs' 12-2 season. She led the team in scoring with 11.3 points per game, which landed her fourth among all conference players. With 58 assists, she ranked first in the SCIAC but also provided the second-best assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.9. She also blocked 19 shots to lead the Maroon and Gray while resetting the career record at Redlands with 128 total stops. Carroll pulled in 97 total rebounds, highlighted by 81 defensive boards to rank fourth among the SCIAC.

During the Bulldogs' 83-68 victory over the University of La Verne on Jan. 28, Carroll recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Barbetti-Cort saw time in all but one game during the conference season, averaging a team-high 32.4 minutes. She boasted the ability to impact every facet of the game, ranking second in the SCIAC with a 54.1 shooting percentage to go along with the second-most assists with 52. She pulled in 7.7 rebounds, which placed her fifth among the conference, and scored 9.0 points per game. During SCIAC competition, she recorded four double-doubles, including a 26-point, 13-rebound effort against Cal Lutheran University on Jan. 19.

Both players served instrumental roles in the Bulldogs' second-place finish in the SCIAC and the squad's championship appearance at the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
