WC Women Win, SLIAC League Title Showdown Set
Jacksonville, Ill. – The Westminster College women topped MacMurray College 61-41 Wednesday. The victory sets up a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) league title showdown with Eureka College Saturday in Fulton.
The Blue Jays (19-4, 13-2 SLIAC) led host MacMurray (9-14, 4-10 SLIAC) 30-20 at halftime on the way to the win. Senior Liz Klaffenbach (Battle Ground, Wash./Prairie) finished with 13 points and seven rebounds to pace Westminster. Sophomore Leigh Ann Lutz (California, Mo./California) added 12 points and seven assists, and junior Hannah Kloster (Springfield, Mo./Parkview) chipped in 12 points.
Westminster hosts Eureka (19-3, 12-2 SLIAC) at 5:00 p.m. Saturday on Senior Night. Westminster captures a second consecutive league title and will host the upcoming conference tournament with a win. Eureka will win the league title and host the conference tournament with a victory over Westminster and a win in its conference finale on February 21 at MacMurray.
