More news about: Oswego State
NEW YORK - Meagan Stover (Jr., Lake George, N.Y.) started the second half with seven straight points to give the Oswego State women's basketball team a lead it did not relinquish, as it defeated Farmingdale State, 52-46, at the NYU Classic on Tuesday afternoon.  Kayla Ryan (Sr., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) scored a game-high 14 points to go along with Stover's 12 points, while each player contributed six rebounds and Stover tallied six blocks.

The Lakers (8-4) will have some time off before returning to conference play on Friday, Jan. 13 when they host New Paltz at 6 p.m.

Kari Kipper (Jr., Loundonville, N.Y.) gave Oswego State a 17-12 lead on a putback with 9:05 left in the first half, but Farmingdale State (3-5) battled back before the end of the frame to gain a four-point edge. Jenna Rossi (Sr., Phoenix, N.Y.) drained a basket in the paint on the Lakers' final possession of half, as Oswego State trailed 28-27 at halftime.

Stover started the second half by nailing a three-pointer and hitting two baskets in the paint to put the Lakers ahead 34-28.  Farmingdale State pulled to within two points after a Kayla Koch layup, as both teams went back-and-forth over the next several minutes until Lauren Nunziato (So., West Sand Lake, N.Y.) converted a three-pointer giving Oswego State its largest lead at 43-36 with 7:17 on the clock.

The Rams cut the lead down to one point following by a Janel Monah layup with four minutes to play.  However, Nunziato drained a critical three to give the Lakers some breathing room down the stretch en route to the six-point win.

In addition to Ryan's 14 points, she also moved into fifth place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,174 points, surpassing Janelle Hulbert's total of 1,162 scored between 1997-2001.  Paula Egelston (So., Fultonville, N.Y.) came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds.  Farmingdale State had one player reach double digits in Jasmine Davis with 10 points.
