Bison jump four spots to No. 20 in the national coaches' poll
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team moved up four spots to No. 20 in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division III coaches' Top 25 poll run by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) released on Tuesday. The Bison (16-0) collected 45 points and are tied at No. 20 with Louisiana College (15-1). The highest the Bison have ever been ranked by the WBCA is No. 16.
The Bison are one of five undefeated teams left in Division III with the others also ranked in the coaches' poll including new No. 1 Thomas More College (17-0). The other undefeated squads include No. 5 Babson College (16-0), No. 11 Denison University (18-0) and No. 16 Greensboro College (16-0). GU is sandwiched in between No. 19 William Paterson University (17-2) and No. 22 Saint Vincent College (15-2) and Mount Union College (14-3).
Lebanon Valley (17-1), the nationally ranked team the Bison beat earlier in the season, moved up to No. 12 as it collected 101 points. The Dutchmen's only loss this season was against Gallaudet in overtime 80-69 on November 28.
Gallaudet is still not ranked in the D3hoops.com Top 25 media poll, as the Bison are the second team receiving votes and would be ranked No. 27 if counted out among those teams receiving votes. Gallaudet collected 50 points.
Gallaudet is also ranked nationally in several NCAA Division III categories including; 7th in steals per game (15.6), 11th in scoring margin (21.1), 9th in rebound margin (11.6), 10th in field-goal percentage defense (31.7 percent) and 14th in scoring defense (49.8 points per game). The NCAA rankings are thru games on January 23, 2011.

The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. The USA TODAY/ESPN board of coaches is made up of nine head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
