Mahwah, NJ – Freshman guard Myles Mitchell-White scored 13 points and added five rebounds and three assists however Montclair State fell to eighth-ranked Ramapo College, 70-56 at the Bradley Center on Wednesday evening.
Senior guards Jovanni Chatham and Daniel Ramis each a scored nine points for the Red Hawks, who fell to 4-2 on the season, 1-1 I the NJAC with the loss.
MSU fell into a 12-6 deficit early in the first half but rallied with an 11-0 run to take a five-point lead. Kaan Yilmaz connected from behind the arc to ignite the run and a three by Ramis put Montclair State on top 14-12. Mitchell-White converted a three-point play with 11:20 to go giving the Red Hawks a 17-12 advantage with 11:20 left.
A Mitchell-White jumper made the score 22-19 however the Roadrunners (5-1, 2-0 NJAC) scored 10 straight points taking a 29-22 lead on a jumper by Patrick Peterson with 4:54 remaining.
The Roadrunners led 38-32 at the break and maintained that lead in the second half. MSU's Eddie Emedoh threw down a dunk to bring the Red Hawks within one at 46-45 and the scored remained within one possession until Ramapo went on a mini seven-point spurt, grabbing a 58-49 lead with six minutes left on a free throw by Rob Lewis. The Roadrunners eventually extended the lead to 66-51 with three minutes to play as Thomas Bonacum made two free throws.
Emedoh, Jarrett Bogus and Justin Porter each had six points for the Red Hawks. Junior Jordan Roberson led MSU on the board with eight rebounds with Emedoh grabbing five.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, December 2 when it hosts Rutgers-Newark at the Panzer Athletic Center at 1:00 pm. Saturday's contest will also be MSU's Annual Toy Drive sponsored by TALON. All fans bringing a new or unwrapped toy to the contest will receive free admission.
