IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team improved to 12-0 on the season, including 6-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, with tonight's 84-62 win at Immaculata University. Senior Fran Rafferty and junior Aaron Walton-Moss proved to be too much for the Mighty Macs, as the duo combined for 57 points on the night.
Rafferty posted a career high 31 points, hitting 8-13 from the floor, including 4-7 from three point range. The senior also connected on 11-14 from the free throw line. Walton-Moss posted his eighth double-double of the season, matching 26 points, including 13-15 from the charity stripe, with 11 rebounds.
The Mighty Macs scored the first bucket of the game but Rafferty and Walton-Moss combined for 31 of Cabrini's next 32 points. The pair combined to outscore Immaculata 33-25 in the first half.
The No. 4 Blue and White showed no let-up in the second half, as the Mighty Macs never got within 14 points of Cabrini's lead. Immaculata shot just 34.4% from the floor after the break, including 3-14 from beyond the three point line.
The Mighty Macs won the battle of the boards 42-40 but Cabrini turned its 10 offensive rebounds into 22 second chance points, while Immaculata had just 11. The Cavaliers also forced 13 turnovers leading to 13 points.
Senior Vernon Robinson and sophomore Joe Ferro added six points each in the win, while freshman Brennan McCann scored six points and matched a career high with six assists.
Barry Brockington led the Mighty Macs (4-9, 2-4 CSAC) with 14 points, while Jose Ortiz added 12.
The Cavaliers will return to Nerney Field House on Wednesday as they welcome Rosemont College to campus. The men will tip at approximately 8:00 p.m. following the women's game.
The game will also mark the first Cabrini Nation Night: #DoBlue celebration. All fans are invited to wear blue, with the first 100 Cabrini students in attendance receiving limited edition #DoBlue t-shirts.
