ATLANTA, Ga. -- Jonathan Abrams tied for game high-point honors with 19, but Berry College basketball lost at Emory, 82-56, on Tuesday night. Mac Whalen added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Vikings.

Berry dropped to 1-2 and Emory improved to 3-0.

After a fast Emory start, the Vikings rallied from a large deficit to tie the score 31-31 at halftime. The Eagles led 31-18 with 4:06 in the half before the BC rally. The visitors--led by eight points from Abrams--tallied the next 13 points to knot the score at the break.

The Eagles started strong in the second half, too. Six minutes into the period, Emory led 49-38 after two free throws from Michael Friedberg (12 points). The Eagles never looked back.

"Emory is a special team and extremely well-coached," said Berry Head Coach Jeff Haarlow. "We can take a lot from our first half comeback, and build on it. We need to handle success better in order to reach our potential as a team"

Emory led in rebounds, 37-35. Berry shot 36-percent (20-56) to 50-percent (32-64) for the home team.

Jake Davis paced Emory with 19 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.

The Vikings are off until Nov. 29 when Berry opens SAA play at Oglethorpe.
