Castleton Earns Top-Seed in Upcoming NAC Women's Basketball Championship
Castleton State College has secured the top seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Championship. The Spartans (19-4 overall, 16-2 NAC) will host eighth-seeded Thomas College (5-19 overall, 5-13 NAC) in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday.
Colby-Sawyer earned the second seed, finishing the season 19-6 overall, 15-3 NAC. The Chargers will host Lyndon State College (9-15 overall, 7-11 NAC) which earned the seventh seed in quarterfinal action Tuesday.
Third-seeded Husson (15-10 overall, 15-3 NAC) will host sixth-seeded University of Maine at Farmington (10-14 overall, 9-9 NAC) Tuesday, while fourth-seeded New England College (18-7 overall, 11-7 NAC) hosts fifth seed Maine Maritime Academy (13-12, 10-8 NAC) in the final quarterfinal Tuesday at New Hampshire Technical Institute.
The top eight teams qualify for the NAC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.
Quarterfinal round games will be played on Tuesday, February 21 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinals held at the highest remaining seed on Friday, February 24. Semifinal winners will meet Saturday, February 25 at the site of the semifinal.
Game times and dates are subject to change. The NAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.
