Senior forward Matt Pebole and junior guard Stefan Thompson were voted by the conference coaches to the first team. Sophomore forward Richie Bonney earned a spot on the second team while Gibbons received honorable mention.
A suffocating defender, Gibbons was charged with guarding the opposition's top perimeter player. He limited conference scoring champ Felix Llanos to just 8.0 ppg and .300 field goal percentage in two meetings, 11.3 ppg below his average. Llanos managed just three points in Geneva (scored with Gibbons on the bench). Gibbons also harassed Justin Heisig (5th in LL in PPG), limiting him to 5.5 ppg and .263 field goal percentage in two games.
Offensively, Gibbons averaged 11.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, and 0.9 spg. He scored a career-high 26 points on 12-of-16 shooting in a 104-89 win over Rensselaer.
In his first season at Hobart, Neer has guided the Statesmen to a 22-4 record, a school record for wins in a season. Hobart posted a 14-2 mark in conference play to win the regular season title by three games. Neer broke the Hobart records for most wins to start a career (6) and most wins in first season. The Statesmen lead the league in scoring defense (61.3 ppg), scoring margin (+13.9 ppg), field goal percentage (.497), rebounding defense (28.2), and rebounding margin (+8.0 rpg). Hobart ranks among the national leaders in field goal percentage (11th), rebounding margin (12th), scoring margin (18th), and winning percentage (23rd). Neer is assisted by Russ Phillips, Dennis Pysnack, and Carl Wenzel.

He's hit double digits 22 times this year, including a season-high 22 points against St. John Fisher. Pebole has five double-doubles this season, including 21 points and 10 rebounds in last night's Liberty League semifinal win over Union. He ranks second in the league in rebounding, sixth in field goal percentage, seventh in blocked shots, eighth in scoring, and ninth in free throw shooting.

Thompson is shooting .512 from the field, .356 from 3-point range, and .850 from the free throw line. He's hit double digits 20 times this year, including a season-high 23 points in a 60-49 win over Skidmore. Thompson made a bid for a triple-double last night against the Dutchmen with 14 points, a career-high matching 12 assists, and six rebounds. He's ranked second in the league in free throw shooting, third in assist-to-turnover (2.24), fourth in assists, 10th in field goal percentage, and 12th in scoring and steals.

The game day shuttle will begin 30 minutes before the game and continue for 30 minutes after the game. Admission is free for all fans.

4 Statesmen, coaching staff win Liberty League recognition
Regular season Liberty League Champions, the players and coaches of the Hobart College basketball team were richly rewarded today with the release of the 2011-12 All-Liberty League teams.
