New York, NY ---- At the annual City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Con Edison Basketball Tip-Off Press Luncheon held at the Water Club, Brooklyn College seniors Tyshawn Russell and Amil John were both named to the CUNYAC All-Star Secon-Team, as voted on by the conferences nine head coaches.

For Russell, this marks the second year in a row that the Jamaica, NY native has been honored by the CUNYAC, as he was named to the Second-Team last year as well. This season, Russell has started in all 25 games played on the year, while averaging a team-leading 21.6 points per game, while shooting 44.4% (185-417) from the field, to go along with 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game, while also averaging 36.6 minutes per game, good for third in the conference. Russell ranks second in the conference and 20th nationally in scoring, while ranking third in the CUNYAC and 13th in all of Division III in steals. Russell also ranks fifth in free throw percentage, shooting 74.7% (145-194).

For John, this marks the first time in his BC career that he has been named as a CUNYAC All-Star. The Brooklyn, NY native has filled up the stat sheet for the Bulldogs this season, averaging 17.4 ppg, to go along with team-highs in rebounding (6.6), assists (4.2) and steals (3.4), while averaging a league best 36.9 minutes per game. John also leads the conference in steals, while ranking second in assists and eighth in both scoring and rebounding. He also ranks 10th in field goal percentage, shooting 46.7% (157-336). Nationally, John ranks fourth in steals per game.

John and Russell also cemented their names in the BC record books, as both players reached the 1,000-point plateau for their careers. John accomplished the feat first on December 8th against Vaughn College, while Russell followed just a couple of games later on January 4th against conference rival York College.

Over their four-year careers, John has played in 100 games, totaling 1,315 points, 450 rebounds, 286 assists and 293 steals; while Russell has appeared in 108 games to go along with 1,321 points, 274 rebounds, 212 assists and 170 steals.

The backcourt duo of Russell and John each played vital roles for the Bulldogs' success this season, which saw the team post a 17-8 overall record, including a 7-4 mark in the conference to clinch the number two overall seed in the upcoming CUNYAC/Con Edison Men's Basketball Championships, which begin on Saturday, February 18th with the Quarterfinals Round.

BC will begin its quest for a third CUNYAC Championship in four years against the #7 seeded Cardinals of York College in the quarterfinals. Tip-off is slated for 1:30 pm at the West Quad Center.

If Brooklyn gets past York, the Bulldogs will take on the winner between #3 Lehman College/#6 Medgar Evers College in the semifinals on Tuesday, February 21st at 8:00 pm at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of the City College of New York (CCNY). Medgar Evers is the reigning CUNYAC champion. If BC gets past the semifinals, they will play in the final on Saturday, February 25th at 5:00 pm also at CCNY.

Admission to this Saturday's quarterfinal will be free and on a first come first served basis.  Tickets to the semifinal and final rounds are also free, but must be acquired in advanced through the CUNYAC website at the following link: http://www.cunyathletics.com/sports/2011/9/29/2011_12_champ_tickets.aspx
