More news about: Franklin and Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. – Georgio Milligan scored a team-high 20 points to lead No. 14 Franklin & Marshall to a 77-59 victory over Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.  The Diplomats (21-2, 14-2 CC) secured the top-seed in the CC and earned the right to host the CC playoffs for the fourth-straight year.

F&M jumped out to an early 10-3 edge and never looked back, leading the entire game. Swarthmore came within six points, 16-10, at 13:04 before F&M went on a 24-9 run to take its largest lead, 40-19, with 4:25 left in the first half. Hayk Gyokchyan's trey as time expired, gave F&M a 43-27 lead at the break.
The Diplomats maintained at least a double-digit lead the remainder of the game and led by as many as 31 points with 5:13 left to play. Swarthmore came within 13 points, 45-32, three minutes into the second, but could not keep pace with F&M's offense.

Milligan shot 8-for-12 from the floor and added five steals to pace F&M. The senior now has 1,754 points and is 43 points shy of breaking James McNally's '11 school mark of 1,796.  Gyokchyan picked up his ninth double-double of the year with 15 points and 11 boards. Matt Porter dropped in 12 points and Jon Salandra finished with seven. David Balderston scored five off the bench for F&M.

Will Gates led all scorers with 21 points and was the only Garnet to score in double figures.

F&M outshot Swarthmore 50% to 33% and held a dominant 49-29 advantage on the glass.

F&M returns to action on Wednesday when the Diplomats travel to Johns Hopkins for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
