GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall had three players reach double figures in scoring and the 11th-ranked and undefeated Diplomats topped Gettysburg 61-47 in Centennial Conference men's basketball action Wednesday evening in Bream Gymnasium.

Senior guard Georgio Milligan scored a game-high 17 points for F&M (8-0, 4-0 CC) and added four assists and five steals. Junior forward Hayk Gyokchyan posted a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Diplomats while sophomore guard Brett McCormick contributed 11 points off the bench.

Junior forward Alex Zurn led the Bullets (4-4, 2-2 CC) with 14 points while junior guard Derek Brooks notched six points, a career-high eight rebounds, and five assists. Freshman center Christian Healy added seven points, five rebounds, and a pair of blocks in his second collegiate outing.

The Diplomats, who forced 20 turnovers and had 12 steals, took control at the end of the first half, using a 19-2 run to open up a 39-20 lead with 28 seconds left. Five different players scored for F&M during the surge, with McCormick dropping in eight straight before Milligan capped the spurt with a steal and lay-up. Freshman guard Joe Emerusabe hit a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left to make it 39-22 at the half.

F&M saw its lead swell to as much as 20 on two occasions, the last coming after a Kevin Henry foul shot with 12:15 left that made it 47-27. However, the Bullets refused to go away and reduced the deficit to 11 (58-47) when Emerusabe connected on 1-of-2 free throws with 1:19 remaining to complete an elongated 11-4 run that lasted over six minutes. Emerusabe's foul shot turned out to be his team's final point, and the Dips added three foul shots of their own to set the final score.

It was a nip-and-tuck affair in the early going, with three ties and eight lead changes over the opening 8:54. Gettysburg enjoyed its final lead when Zurn nailed a jumper with 11:43 left, putting his team up 12-11. Gyokchyan countered with two free throws 37 seconds later to give the Diplomats the lead for good.

F&M shot 41.2 percent from the floor – its lowest mark since shooting 40.4 percent against Neumann in its season opener – but went 50.0 percent (5-for-10) from beyond the arc and 82.4 percent (14-for-17) at the foul line.

The Bullets shot 43.6 percent for the game and went 2-for-7 from 3-point range and 11-for-17 at the charity stripe.
