Balanced Scoring Helps Falcons to Win at Pacific Lutheran

All five starters scored in double figures in the men's basktball team's 68-59 win at Pacific Lutheran on Friday night.

Wade Guerin (Bloomington, MN, St. Croix Lutheran HS) and Shane Manor (Altoona, WI, UW-Superior) led the way with 14 points each. Aaron Anderson (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater HS) and Ollie White (Minnetrista, MN, Mound-Westonka HS) added 13 points a apiece and Brian Kimble (Stevenson Ranch, CA, Coll. of Canyons JC) finished with 10.

UWRF had a 27-23 lead at the half and improved its overall record to 4-1 win the win.

The Falcons held the lead for the first half of the initial half. But PLU took a six-point, 21-15 lead, with 5:49 to go when Cameron Reister hit a three. But the Falcon defense stiffened at that point and allowed just two points for the rest of the half. The Falcons went on a 12-2 run to take the lead into the locker room at halftime. Trailing 21-20, Kimble hit a jumper to give the Falcons a one-point lead with 4:10 to go.

In the second half the Falcons led by five at one point before PLU took its first second half lead, 43-42, wtih about 10 minutes to play. With the game tied, 45-45, with 8:34 to play, the Falcons went on a seven point run to take control of the contest. Kimble hit a three and Guerin scored twice on layups to give the Falcons a 52-45 lead with 6:48 to go. The closest PLU could get after that was six points a couple of times the rest of the contest. The biggest Falcon lead was 11, 61-50, with 4:06 to go when White scored on a layup.

Guerin finished with a double-double with 11 rebounds. Kimble had a career high eight assists.

The Falcons had another good night shooting the ball finishing 23-40 (.575) from the field, including 5-13 (.385) from behind the arc. They were 17-29 (.586) from the line.

PLU was led by Kai Hoyt who scored 15 pointsand grabbed seven rebounds. The loss was the first of the season for the Lutes, who shot 20-54 (.370) and 14-21 (.667) from the line.

The Falcons will play Puget Sound on Saturday in the second day of the PLU Thanksgiving Classic. That game starts at 6 p.m. (CST).
