MANCHESTER TO FACE AUSTIN PEAY IN EXHIBITION
Manchester College's men's basketball team will travel to face Division I Austin Peay University Monday night in exhibition action from Austin Peay's Dunn Center (Dave Aaron Arena).
Manchester is ranked 37th in the Preseason D3hoops.com polls and are coming off a 22-7 season, highlighted by a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Spartans advanced to the second-round of the NCAA Division III tournament, where they fell to national runner-up Wooster by two points.
Manchester returns Third Team All-American guard Jordan Moss, who enters his fourth year with the program. Moss was named HCAC Player of the Year as he averaged 13.3 points per contest for MC last year and shot 58 percent from the floor. Joining Moss on the court for their senior seasons include 6'10 center shot blocker Jason Spindler, 6'7 forward Matt Morris and 6'5 guard Matt Layman. MC also has three other players returning to the team this year including juniors Joel Sovine, Andrew Hartsel and sophomore Colin Witte.
Austin Peay is coming off a 20-14 season last year and notched a 107-96 win over Central Missouri in exhibition action last Thursday. The Governors are picked as favorites to win the Ohio Valley Conference title this year. Newly appointed Manchester College assistant coach Dugan Lyne served as a student assistant with the men's basketball program at Austin Peay for four years before coming to Manchester.
Exhibition action begins at 7:30 p.m. CST with live multimedia casts available through the Austin Peay website.
