Men’s Basketball Tabbed Seventh In Skyline Preseason Coaches’ Poll

New York, N.Y. Fourth Year Head Coach Brian Nigro's '00 Men's Basketball squad has been picked to finish seventh in the Skyline Conference standings it was announced on Wednesday morning. The Dolphins earned 32 points in the Skyline Preseason Poll that is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

The league front runner in 2011-12 is Farmingdale State who picked up 74 total points and four first place tallies. In a tight race, St. Joseph's-L.I. was picked second after receiving 69 points and three first place nods, while Mount Saint Mary was picked to finish third with 67 tallies and a pair of first place votes.

2010-11 Skyline Conference Champion Purchase garnered fourth place points with 61 and also received one first place vote. Closing out the top half of the league in the preseason standings is Sage who earned 46 points from the head coaches.

Old Westbury has been voted sixth in the poll and has been awarded 46 points and it is followed by the Mount's 32. Rounding out the 10 team field is Yeshiva in eighth with 25 points, NYU-POLY in ninth with 15 points and Maritime in 10th with 13 points.

After matching the program's best start to a season at 10-0 a year ago, the Mount closed out the 2010-11 season with a 15-11 overall record and a 10-10 mark in the Skyline Conference.

Mount Saint Vincent will kick-off the 2011-12 campaign on November 18 when they take on UMass-Dartmouth in the Hampton Inn Classic in Dartmouth, Mass. After tussling with the host Corsairs, the Dolphins will take on either Maine-Farmington or Bowdoin on day two of the event.
