Medaille used big run to down Bobcats 62-52
GREENSBURG, PA- David Palmer (Pittsburgh,
PA/Westinghouse) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds but Medaille College used two big runs to down Pitt-Greensburg 62-52 Saturday evening in Chambers Hall.
UPG jumped on Medaille out of the gates and opened up a 20-8 lead on the Mavericks midway through the first half. Palmer scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half as the Bobcats defense held Medaille to just 10 points in the first 13 minutes of the contest.
Pitt-Greensburg led 23-12 with 4:33 to until the intermission but Medaille closed the half on a 7-0 run cutting the Bobcat advantage to 23-19 at the half. The Mavericks started then second half right where they left off in the first outscoring UPG 16-4 to open the second stanza. In total the run lasted 10:25 and Medaille led 35-27.
Medaille finished the Bobcats off with a 12-3 run late in the game that pushed the score to 62-44 with 2:09 to play.
Pitt-Greensburg shot just 33.3% from the floor in the second half including 1-9 from behind the 3-point arc.
Larry Bigante (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) added 10 points and Josh Kucenic (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) contributed points and five boards coming off the bench.
Pitt-Greensburg travels to Pittsburgh, Wednesday evening to take on AMCC rival La Roche College at 8:00 PM.
