Southern Vermont's Spratling, Johnson, & Hamlet Sweep NECC Weekly Awards
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Southern Vermont junior guard Taeshon Johnson (Charlotte, N.C.) topped the Mountaineers in their stellar NCAA record-breaking game resulting in a 128-123 seven-overtime loss to Skidmore College with 39 points. He recorded a double-double adding 10 rebounds, while chipping in three assists, one block and one steal. Johnson shot 54% from the field (15-28), 67% from behind the arc (2-for-3) and 54% from the line (7-for-13).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Southern Vermont senior guard Lance Spratling (Pittsfield, Mass.) broke an NCAA record playing all 75 minutes in the Mountaineers NCAA record breaking game resulting in a 128-123 seven overtime loss to Skidmore College. Spratling just missed a triple-double scoring 31 points, bringing down 18 rebounds while dishing out eight assists. He shot 25 % from the field (10-for-40) and 79% from the charity stripe (11-for-14).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Fellow Mountaineer, Southern Vermont freshman forward Deshawn Hamlet (Hartford, Conn.) earned his second NECC Rookie of the Week honors after a NCAA record-breaking game resulting in a 128-123 seven-overtime loss to Skidmore College. Prior to an injury resulting in only 21 minutes of play for the forward, Hamlet recorded 11.0 points and five rebounds. In the game, he shot 50% from the field (5-for-10) and 100% from the charity stripe (1-for-1).
