About the 2002 Division III |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lewis
& Clark 70, Mississippi College 57 Scott Davis was, well, Scott Davis. He continually drove past Choctaw defenders and scored 20 points to lead the Pioneers. When they cut off his drive, he dished. Danny Winchester spotted up for three 3-point field goals, all in the second half, on his way to 11 points. John Mietus scored 12 and grabbed 13 rebounds. Colin Oriard also had 12 points. Both teams opened the game tight. After the first 10 minutes the score was 9-8 Chocs. L&C found its rhythm late in the half though, closing on a 13-2 run to take a 31-23 lead to the lockerroom. The second half proved much the same. MC closed the lead to one, 40-39, after back-to-back three-pointers by Stacey Keyes and Karlos Fairley. The Pioneers responded with a 10-0 run, sparked by two Winchester three balls. Lewis & Clark would not be seriously threatened again, leading by as many as 17, 68-51 with a minute remaining. |
