The Bison also advance to the second round, where it will face Otterbein (25-3), the Ohio Athletic Conference champion, in Westerville, Ohio, on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. Pitt-Bradford had its season end with a 23-5 record. The first half was a see-saw affair that saw neither team take control. The Panthers took a 21-16 lead seven minutes into the game, but the Bison scored the next nine points to take a 25-21 advantage. The back-and-forth struggle continued but the Panthers used a 7-2 spurt in the final two minutes to carry a 48-43 advantage into the locker room. Pitt-Bradford forward Matt Beacom, who was the AMCC Player of the Year, and Schubert led each team with 15 and 13 points respectively. In the second half, the Bison exploded out of the locker room, tallying the first nine points of the half to take a 52-48 lead. The Panthers continued to stay right with the Bison and the score sat at 73-72 with 8:32 to play. But Schubert delivered a three-point play that ignited a 17-7 Bethany run that pushed the Green and White lead to double figures at 90-79 with four minutes remaining. Schubert, the PAC Player of the Year, scored seven points during the run and Majzun buried a pair of 3-pointers during the rally. Despite some struggles from the foul line in the closing minutes, Bethany was able to put the game away. The Bison went 30-39 from the charity stripe for the game but missed six free throws down the stretch. However, the Panthers were never able to get any closer than nine points and Bethany claimed its first NCAA Tournament victory since a 70-68 win at Rose Hulman in 1978. Schubert's 37 points, with 25 of them coming in the second half, came off 12-22 shooting from the floor and 12-13 from the foul line. Majzun was also huge in the second half, when Bethany outscored the Panthers 69-50, as the 6-3 swingman cashed in 19 of his 25 in the final 20 minutes. Also in double figures for the Bison was senior point guard Scott Johnson with 13 points and senior guard Nevada Smith with 11 markers. Pitt-Bradford suffered the loss despite a remarkable effort from their big man Beacom. The 6-4 center finished with 32 points and 17 rebounds, while forward Doug Schneider totaled 16.
